Morning Mark, I couldn’t understand all the words for These Days, so I looked up the words. They apply to my life as well. However, I did take note of the beauty of success surrounding you: the company (Braeden & Taylor), and more importantly, the love and respect of your children; the undeniable excellence of your art shouting out who you are; Laurel, cooking in the kitchen, creating an environment which makes all this warmth possible; and lastly, your attitude and spirit of faith which constantly encourages me. You possess this moment the best of life. The rest will follow.
Much love,
Mom

Thanks so much for your love and concern, Mark. I can’t tell you how much it means to me. You may be 100% right. Maybe God is telling me to leave the business “rat race” and do something that I would really enjoy. I’m definitely going to pray much about it.
Couldn’t sleep much last night (again) and feeling a bit low. But, your words have really lifted my spirits. I really need someone to talk to, though you have been a huge help.
Anyway, thank you, again, Mark. You’re always there when I need you. I don’t deserve you, man. You’re the best,
Deano

I am so proud of you, Mark. Over the years, you have created a great marriage and wonderful family. The proof is always in the pudding, and the fact that Braeden and Taylor are doing so well says volumes about you and Laurel and what a fantastic job you have done in raising them. And, of course, your marriage is an inspiration too. You went through the hard times (years ago) and came out flourishing over time. Also, you have become such a kind, gentle and loving man. My kids always tell me how “sweet” you are. They love their Uncle Mark.
Anyway, I love my bro, Mark, as well. Wanted to make sure you knew that today.

Marcus,
It was MY pleasure. I loved seeing all you guys. And, I’ve got to say, YOU are more kind, loving and warm every year. God has done a great work in your life and I am SO happy for you, your marriage, your kids – everything! I really hope and pray that someday you and I can live really close by. I don’t see you nearly enough.
I love you brother,
Deano

Mark,
What do you say to someone..
Who not only saved your life but is helping you live after 40 years,
Who has helped you to feel good about yourself,
Who is helping you become a better husband and friend,
Who is helping you deal with issues and relationships that have caused you pain throughout your life,
Who always offers an encouraging word,
Who serves as a role model and inspiration everyday,
Who isn’t afraid to offer constructive criticism,
Who challenges you when necessary so you are honest about your feelings and experiences,
Who is always there to help.
God had a plan for you 17 years ago when you had your last drink — to become an inspiration and role model for everyone you come into contact with, to help them become and stay sober, and to help them become better people. I am sure God is pleased with the success you have had following His Plan.
God blessed me by putting you in my life.
Thank you for helping me get and stay sober, and for making me a better person. Congratulations on your 17 years of sobriety.
Thank you for being my sponsor, friend and my brother.
God bless you today and always.

Hi Mark, I discovered you via your YouTube videos playing the Esquire. Your playing touched me, I’m a player also and most videos I watch don’t touch me or grab me, the tone, feel and soul isn’t there, bad vibrato etc, then I discovered your paintings, I’m recently painting also, would love to keep in touch, your story was talked about over breakfast today, keeping this short, all the best from the UK

Mark,
The world will receive your musical gifts with open arms brother. I have never met a person with more artistic talent than you. I mean, I tried art, I do music. I am no photographer. I do write so maybe it’s a tie in some odd way!
But hell yeah! Come out into the light with that Gibson and that vintage amp and the world will fall away like clouds and we’ll play for the gods that be there. My daughter from Richmond will drive up to hear us – I advertised you well!

I want to sincerely thank you Mark, for being at the shelter not once but twice. You are such an amazing person. Artist, photographer and musician, plus great friend, all rolled into One. I love you man, and want to do more creative things with you in the future. As I told Jean today, my goal is for SAW to have 3 teams of volunteers so that each quarter, we can hit three shelters in the area. That will have a much bigger impact. Plus I want to do a full show somewhere, with $10 tickets, to benefit the shelters. Together, we can help end the curse of homelessness. Thanks again for your steadfast friendship and your caring heart. There is a new vibe in the world now. We are on the first edge of it, we see it at work. It will soon redefine the way the world works. It starts with a heart that freely gives.

Bought My 63 Candy Apple Strat
Okay, got about 20+ hrs on the ’63 strat and have absolutely fallen in love with her. I have no idea why in my 30+ yrs of playing strats I never played a rosewood curve before (must be that Layla album bias). I brought her into the studio to use on one song and used her on a whole day’s worth of recording. The ’63 has a completely different tone than the maple neck 56 relics I normally use. I’m now anxious to find a ’60 or ’61 slab board. Got one in Daphne blue (yeah, I know….)? I basically traded the money I was going to use to buy a Shelby Mustang to get the guitar, thus I’ve named her Shelby.

Mark,
Thank you so much for listening to me. You have no idea how much you help me!! Sometimes, I think, like today, do you ask yourself ; “Why is she telling me all these things?” I hope I am never a bother. You just seem to get it! And this has been such a year+ of transition and I believe I am really coming out of it onto the other side and you and that meeting were so instrumental in my survival during this whole process!!
Thank you for all your help and best of luck with your 3 new paintings in the gallery this week!!!
You are an inspiration!!

Mark,
I would like to hear you play music one day. What song moves you most? Mine is “Girl from the north country fair” . That why i bought your painting of the girl on the golden field. It reminds me if my wife up in minnesota. Separated 10 years and i love her more everyday.
Hi mark. My commendations to you. I purchased an oil painting several years ago of your creation from Howard Rehs at Rehs Gallery in New York. The country girl in an open field. It inspires me daily. Hope one day i can listen to you play guitar. I am a poet. I started a foundation in Nicaragua for artist with cancer and handicap. They are doing well spreading poetry through art. The beauty of growth is a smile.

Working with Mark is amazing. He is an expert at what he does, fast and professional. He was able to get my project vision the very first time. Mark turned around my project in the most miraculous of ways. I was struggling to complete the website for my foundation on my own and it seemed as if Mark clicked a few buttons, worked his magic and a masterpiece was created. By having him in our corner we truly feel that our foundation launch will be a huge success and continue to be fruitful. I will continue to work with Mark on other projects. He is very affordable for the excellent quality product he delivers. Anyone who will work with him in the future will be pleasantly surprised at how good this guy is at designing and developing professional looking websites. Thank you Mark!

Dear Mr. Lovett,
I recently attended my best friend’s wedding in St. Michael’s at the Inn at Perry Cabin (Jen & Matt Albanese) and I called her last night to see if any of her pictures were online. She told me your website and I found them and I swear, I’ve been looking at them all morning. WOW! Your photography is absolutely stunning. I live in KY, but after seeing your pictures, I want to get married in Maryland! Seriously, I was in awe as I looked at those photos…you are truly talented and I just wanted to let you know that I think your work is amazing. My father was a photographer as well, so I know how passionate one can be about it…it definitely shows in your work.
If I decide to get married in Maryland, I’ll know who to call!
Sincerely,

My parents purchased a package at my school’s auction that included a one hour photo session with Mark, along with two 8x10s. Not only did Mark stay an extra hour and a half without charge, but the photographs he took of me were unparalleled. The quality of his shots show his excellence in photography, and I’d recommend him to anyone. He knew exactly how I should pose and what lighting and backgrounds were necessary to create a perfect picture. Once I saw my shots on his online gallery, they were so good that I got the digital CD of almost every picture! Thank you Mark for a wonderful experience!

Dear Mark:
I justed to convey that I was so happy that Sherin and I ultimately decided that we would like you to do our wedding photography and really appreciate that you were willing to work within our budget. When we met with you, your creativity and the artful and sensitive way you approached your photography work really stood out.
So it came as no surprise that the images you captured on 5/2 really tell a story- and tell it in a beautiful way… You and Laurel really worked hard and were so patient with all our guests. Plus you were both a ton of fun! So thank you for everything you both did.
Also, please convey our gratitude to your lovely wife, Laurel- and for her patience with setting up all the various shots. Please tell her she was absolutely right- she tried to have us to do a few poses both myself alone and with Sherin that we were initially wary about, but which all turned out really nice and creative! You make a great team!
On another note, I’ve a couple of friends getting married next year and I’d love to refer them to you.
Thanks again for everything!
Best wishes,

What a Team! Mark and Laurel Lovett are superb! Mark took the most beautiful shots of our Wedding at the Inn at Perry Cabin (June 12, 2011), and have our Friends and Family (some of whom are Photographers) raving!
Mark and Laurel took the time to get to know us, in person, prior to our Wedding, and knew exactly how we wanted our Special Day, to be captured. In addition, they had some wonderful ideas of their own, which resulted in more beautiful shots! We trusted them, immensely…
We can’t wait to see all of our Photos, and will continue to use Mark Lovett Photography for all of our Special Events in our Lifetime…
Thank you for being so good to us, and to our Friends & Family…you are truly Friends, as well…

Hey Mark,
Just a note to say thanks so much for coming to Frederick to see us play. What a completely lovely and unexpected surprise!
Seeing you and chatting (for too short a time, sorry ‘bout that!) brought me back to getting to know you for our big show that NOBODY heard!
It also reminded me of how much I enjoy your company, your friendly demeanor and your modesty. I think you are a phenomenal guitarist, have such a distinctive and buttery voice and those are the least of your talents! What I would give to paint with an ounce of your talent. Such beautiful work.
Anyway, all this to say, I am glad we reconnected and hope we stay in touch.

“It may be cliche, but it’s true… A picture is worth a thousand words and the pictures we got back from Mark Lovett Studio scream ‘amazing’ a thousand times!
We had the privilege of having Mark Lovett shoot our engagement photos for our
save-the-date cards going out to friends and family, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
It isn’t just the photos, though the photos are certainly very beautiful; it is how Mark and Laurel do business that makes working with them such an awesome experience. You get the feeling of a comfortable family experience with quality studio results.
Mark and Laurel were completely flexible in their time and eager to be a part of this special day with us. Mark even trudged through the snow to get the perfect shots!
Just one look around their family home and studio and you can see that Mark truly has the passion and talent for art, and Mark’s wife, Laurel, is both welcoming and professional.
We can’t wait until the next opportunity to work with Mark Lovett Studio, and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone considering a photo session or oil painting!”

“Mark,
Ellie and I choose art we love and we don’t buy it to sell later. We love art by Steve Hanks, Behrens, Michael Florh, Romero Britto and Viktor Shvaiko. Our recent find which is prominently hung in the formal dining room where it can be seen as you enter the house, round the staircase or come from the living room area is an oil on canvas called “little reindeer.” It shares a room with Steve Hank’s works. Among all the art we have, the portrait of my daughter titled “Little Reindeer” by Mark Lovett, is the one we love the most. ”

Hi Mark, my name is Sasha, and i am currently a student at ‘The University College of the Arts’ in Norwich. I’m studying a BA in Fine Art, and i am really interested in your work, and the way you produce it. Its breathtaking, i myself like you paint portraits, however mine just never seem to come to the standard and quality of yours. I have read up on your information on your website and have found you a great influence. Therefore i am using you as an artist reference in my Research section of the degree. I was wondering if you have a short amount of time spare to email me a bit more about your background and how you started to paint. Also i am interested in your influences as an artist as well as the process that you go through to produce a painting. This would be a great help, and i look forward to hearing from you. :)
Many thanks

Mark,
I am 56 years old and have been drawn to portrait for most of my life. I study portrait and have written down a few names of artists who are inspirations to me. Your paintings are incredibly beautiful, depicting the innocence and natural beauty of children and I can only aspire to reach this level. Thank you for the inspiration.

Dear Mark,
this past Saturday evening marked a new beginning of the artistic part of my life and I really owe it all to you. I opened a studio away from home and this is where I work now and loving every minute of it.
When we first linked up it was after the passing of my mother and my trying to regain the use of my right hand. It was a very trying time for me both mentally and physically and meeting you and working with you became the highlight of my days.
I also really miss you, hope Laurel is not taking this the wrong way, but I do. If you have the time a bit down the road, I’d love to continue somehow having you as my mentor for payment of course, perhaps at the beginning of the year when life settles down a bit.
lots of good wishes to you and Laurel

I joined Mark last night and all I can say to the others, I have already gotten my moneys worth in one evening, he is so sharing. We had a continuous and fascinating interchange discussing all the stuff I need to learn more about. Values, soft edges, hard edges, reasons why, color choices and shifts and mixes I have not even thought or heard of before.
Right now he is at the stage of final finite applications, divulging methods only a painter of his caliber knows.
True if any of you are looking for a site that is more social this is the wrong place. But if you want to immerse yourself into serious learning to advance your craft, this is an opportunity that you normally only find by travelling, staying in a hotel for weeks on end and paying thousands of dollars for sharing it all with a crowd of people around you.
I can understand if you prefer to wait to start and paint a new piece with him, I”ll be there and would love to see you there too.
And no, neither Mark or Laurel know of me writing this until the moment I hit the reply button

Hi Mark! I just wanted to thank you so much for friending me and to tell you again how much I appreciate your wonderful talent. I find myself wanting to go back and look at the little girl in red over and over. Truly a masterpiece! Your ability to handle all of those subtle value and chroma shifts in red is fabulous.
It has been such a pleasure to meet Laurel here on FB. I have seen through her photos and sharing what a lovely family you are Blessed with and it warms my heart! It appears that you two are a super team together! I really admire that.
I will look forward to the day that I get to meet you both in person! I hope it is in the near future. : )
Take care and happy painting!

Hi Mark. I am really looking forward to painting with you over the next month. I am really greatful for the time already spent with you.
After taking the photo of the painting, i realized that the corner of her mouth on the right side was to low. I have gone in and fixed it. I am really excited with this painting. It is hundreds times better than anything i have done before. You have taught me so much.
thank you.

Subject: RE: “Field of Gold”!
THAT (the below-pictured “Field of Gold” ) is one gorgeous, beautiful, sensitive, breath-taking/leaves-one-breathless Masterpiece!!!
Who EVER would’ve guessed — back in, say 1972-1973 — that such would emerge from the boxing/defensive-end hands of a rather large & scary Red-Headed ‘Dude?

Mark,
I love the energy and composition of “Field of Gold”, and would like to see how this one develops. I am assuming you are still working on this today. It has qualities I’d like to develop in my own work. I used to be better at this type of expression. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Laurel,
Thank you so much for your kind note. I wasn’t offended at all by our
phone conversation as I knew that you needed to protect Stephanie. She is
one of your ardent supporters and sings Mark’s AND your praises all the
time. I told Stephanie, that I will buy from her those paintings that
touch me that she has access to.
I have come to feel an attachment to Mark now that I have one of Mark’s
originals: Thinking of You. I have some of Susan Rios’s lithographs of
women by the sea – a ballerina right at the water’s edge, and one standing
with her back looking at the rocks and the sea. The latter was very
colorful. Susan doesn’t do faces or hands. Mark’s *Thinking of You *gives
me a beautiful woman with face, hands, and feet! To have an original work
of Mark is to have a part of who he is on my wall. I am a
gynecologist/reproductive endocrinologist and can appreciate the female
form. My love for the ocean is a perfect combination of both and Mark
captures it so well.
As Stephanie told you, I am writing a book – the working title is “I Am Not
One of Them.” This is a look at recognizing what one is not a part of and
why. We may not be part of our families (?abuse), our workplace (unfair
politics), our church (do what we do or else), or friends (have a drink,
etc), etc. But we are “in” them. The fundamental question is “how can you
be in a group without being a part of it!” I suspect this book will lead
to discovering not what you are not apart of, but who the real you is and
what is positive about the life you choose to live. I have seen so many
new ways of looking at this analysis as I write.
I am intrigued by Mark’s story – what he was a part of, but what he
intuitively may have known that he wasn’t really a part of.
Understanding his back story, the why’s, and what he has discovered through
his incredible music and art would add a huge depth at looking at this
journey we call life. If he would like to share some of this, I would be
honored.
Also, you mentioned you have some originals that are not available through
Stephanie. The “original” bug has bitten me and I would be honored if you
would share these paintings with me for consideration.
I will be attending the American Society of Reproductive Medicine annual
convention in Baltimore, Maryland from October 17 through 21, 2015. If you
and Mark are available around that time, I will find a way to visit you –
not only to talk about the art, but also connect as friends and hear Mark’s
story – if you are up for a visit.
Again, thanks for sending the recent painting for my review. I look
forward to meeting you in person.
Blessings!
Cliff W.

Hi Mark and Laurel,
OMG! What a great write-up and progress on your painting. I awoke early this morning to your article and photos of Mona’s progress. I was absolutely spell bound as she is coming to life! The detail of the techniques you give is amazing. I love the story about the painting’s history as well as more about Leonardo Da Vinci! I am thrilled you are doing this and am excited to see her in person along with you both and your family ! Wow! Thanks so much for taking this on! On my way to Baltimore next Thursday.
I do have all Friday open if you want to change the plans.
Blessings!

Hi Guys!
Well, today finds me awakening while it is still dark outside to check Mark’s website blog on Mona and was I thrilled to see the progress. She is so like the real Mona. Mark, your work is so incredible. And I love your writing, the emotional impact you are putting into her, and the emotional and physical impact it is having on you personally! So much dedication! You are an incredible writer. I hope you will give me permission to create a personal “Mixbook” (online book creation) photo and word memory book of your personal journal in re-creating the Mona! Sessions 10 and 11 really is bringing her to almost complete fruition!
I couldn’t help myself, but I taped a poster onto another poster in my office of the Mona Lisa where I plan to hang the real Mark Mona. (See the attachment.) My photo is all mixed up with different lights on the glass. Carmen laughed at me when I did that, but then she began to study it and said, “She’s looking right at me.” Sitting on the other side of the room, I said, “Well, she’s looking at me too!” So she asked to trade places with me and she said, “That’s creepy, she keeps following me with her eyes where ever I go in the room!” And she does! I think I read that somewhere, but it is an intriguing feature!
As I work at my desk, I am listening to Intuition! Wow, what beautiful music and so relaxing! Thank you again for this CD! Did you write all these pieces? I feel very relaxed today and am getting a lot done!
BTW, Carmen really likes (as do I) Atrim Bride. (just checking – is it Atrim or Atrium?). And she loved Braeden too and Shades of Pale! :) Thinking ahead to next year I keep going back to Symphony No.1: The Lady in White at the National Gallery of Art. I hope you get a chance to go see her! I think she stands nearly 8 feet framed. I wonder what a full size re-creation of her by Mark would look like?? :)
Hope you can get some rest between your long Mona sessions!
Blessings and Love to you guys!
Cliff

In the past, I’ve had so many bad experiences with photographs and photographers that having my picture taken is like going to the dentist. But, Mark Lovett and Laurel Lovett made the whole experience easy and effortless. Mark is an artist as well as a photographer, so he knows how to capture the best portrait. The photo shoot was done efficiently, and he edited the photos in one day. Somehow he was able to make my whole face glow and enhanced the photos to make me go, “Wow!” I’d never seen myself look that good before! I didn’t have to go back and ask him to do anything else to touch up the photos. And that’s a first! They were just so perfect. He is definitely my favorite photographer of all time!

My partner and I had our law firm’s business head shots taken by Mark and we are thrilled. Our photos are professional, natural and exactly what we wanted. I chose Bethesda Headshots because Mark captures the personality of his clients without his clients looking posed or over processed. He didn’t disappoint. We cannot recommend this studio enough and we will definitely send our friends and colleagues their way. Thank you again.

Mark is passionate about his work and it is shown through the final results. Mark made the experience convenient and easy. Great job!

I really enjoyed my photo shoot session with Mark. He made me laugh and made really good suggestion to bring the best on my personality out on camera. Really well use of my time and he made sure I was happy with the outcome before he let me go. I will definitely come back again for more pictures and would suggest him to anybody Thanks Mark Chris Lynx Arroyo

I had such a great experience with Bethesda Headshots. The whole process (from scheduling to choosing the final images) was really efficient and seamless, which made my life easier. Mark made me feel super comfortable during the session itself. He also spent extra time with me to make sure I was happy with the selections. In the end, I was so happy with my images; he helped me look great! Both him and his wife were so nice and warm! I would highly recommend them to my friends and family.

Mark’s photography work is actually much more than photography. Some may not know that Mark is also an incredible oil painter, musician and web site designer. Everything Mark does is beautifully creative. He doesn’t just take photos. He takes the subject and, somehow, makes it as beautiful and interesting as one of his unique paintings. Truly, Mark is an artist and it shows in everything he does. If you engage him for a “head shot,” you will be ecstatic with the quality of the finished product.

I had a great experience. He made me feel comfortable which enabled me to relax while taking great photos. I plan to use him for family photos too.

Very professional. Mark and Laurel showed up to our office on time to take pictures for our website and were ready to shoot right away. The pictures were great. We enjoyed the photo shoot and working with Mark Lovett Photography.

Great experience with Mark and Laurel! We hired them to take photos for our website. They were true professionals in every sense of the word! The photo shoot was fun and productive and we ended up with incredible photos! We are so pleased and I highly recommend them!

Mark is a gem! You’d be hard pressed to find a friendlier, more accommodating photographer. And he’s professional, prompt, and dedicated too! We recently engaged Mark’s photography expertise, for our grassroots political campaign, and were pleasantly surprised at his keen artistic eye & his devotion to excellence. The turnaround for the photos was very fast, and out of the shots that we have from five different photographers, Mark’s photos are the best, by far!
